Farah Mughal
Farah Mughal is a trainee integrative counsellor within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham. She has a Master’s degree in psychology and is now working on her Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with the CPCAB. Farah is a registered student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follows their code of ethics in her work. She has worked with clients who have addictions (including co-dependency and problems with food), interpersonal and relationship difficulties, complex family difficulties, and eating disorders.
Farah’s method is based on person-centred concepts, which stress empathy, honesty, and unconditional positive respect. She thinks that clients can feel safe talking about their feelings and experiences in therapy if the therapist is kind and doesn’t condemn them. Farah works in a way that combines different therapy methods to fit the needs of each person she works with. This could involve parts of psychodynamic therapy, CBT methods, and relational approaches. Her main goal is to assist clients become more self-aware and make positive changes by helping them tap into their own strength and inner resources.
Farah has a degree in psychology and is very interested in cultural identification and inclusiveness. She is sensitive and curious about the different experiences her clients have had. She has dealt with people from many different backgrounds and is especially aware of how early relationship patterns might affect problems in the present. Eating disorders, co-dependency, all relationship difficulties, and family dynamics are some of the things that interest Farah. She is calm, relaxed, helpful and she is dedicated to walking with her clients as they go through their own healing and growth journeys.
