Greg Van Beurden
Greg van Beurden is a qualified psychodynamic counsellor. He is professionally registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, therefore works to the highest ethical standards and holds a Foundation Degree (with distinction) in Psychodynamic Counselling. Greg previously worked at the Awareness Centre as a trainee and is now in private practice at the Clapham office. He brings a wealth of experience, supporting clients facing emotional and psychological challenges such as bereavement, loss or chronic illness and includes a wide array of associated concerns such as anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Having previously lived abroad as well as working in the corporate world, Greg has first-hand experience of understanding and supporting life transitions.
Greg works on a long-term basis with his clients, meaning a joint exploration at your own pace, to heal, gain insight and to make meaningful changes. He works face-to-face in Clapham or offers online appointments in the evenings during the week. The initial consultation is an opportunity to explore what brings you to therapy and to determine whether working together feels right for you. The challenges of life can feel overwhelming and having the space to speak about things with someone who has no other place in your day-to-day life can be very helpful. People come to counselling for many different reasons. It may be a specific situation which is causing you distress or a more general sense of dissatisfaction or a feeling of being stuck in your life.
Working psychodynamically means jointly exploring how past experiences shape present patterns of feelings and behaviours. We can’t change the past but with insight, we can understand ourselves better. Compassion, empathy, confidentiality and being non-judgemental are fundamental to the way Greg works.
