Thomas Scott works to build positive and trusting relationships, creating a space in which clients feel safe and supported to fully be themselves. With being empathic and non-judgmental as his top priorities, Thomas’s therapeutic approach is based on person-centred principles. As an integrative counsellor, he also draws from psychodynamic theories and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) concepts. Working collaboratively, Thomas helps clients tap into their inner strength, build resilience, and navigate through personal challenges towards enhanced wellbeing. Thomas strives to provide an environment in which people of all identities and backgrounds feel comfortable, and clients have commented on his calm presence.

As well as working in counselling and psychotherapy, Thomas has been a communications manager in the UK criminal justice system, a writer and copy editor for newspapers in Japan, and worked in customer services and hospitality. A common thread running through this varied career is a compassionate interest in people and their stories from all walks of life, and a belief in each individual’s equal value. Thomas understands how the common demands of life, as well as systemic oppression and discrimination, affect people today. He helps clients look inward to develop ways of managing these stresses and strains while cultivating a more fulfilling life. His interests include shame, anxiety, and substance misuse, and he has a special interest in LGBTQ+ issues.

Thomas is a trainee integrative counsellor and a student member of the BACP. He works online for the NHS Talking Therapies Wandsworth service provided by The Awareness Centre. Thomas is currently working towards an advanced diploma (PGDip) in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy.
