Timothy Masters
Timothy Masters is a trainee integrative practitioner currently completing his Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy. He works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham and is a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Tim uses a person-centred integrative approach focusing on creating a non-judgemental and compassionate space for clients to explore and process difficult life experiences. Working collaboratively with clients he has a flexible approach that can also incorporate cognitive behavioural therapies to help work on changes to thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Tim understands the impact of anxiety, loss, fear and trauma and how these can influence our views of ourselves and the world. Tim’s focus is on developing a greater understanding and compassion for ourselves and building the resilience to face life’s challenges.
Tim’s professional background includes both community and inpatient NHS services. Before his psychotherapy work, Tim’s career covered teaching to adults and young people, he also worked for several years in local government, and spent a few years working abroad. These experiences enable Tim to work and support with a variety of work-related issues such as work-related stress and complexities. Whilst working in NHS inpatient settings for eating disorders, Tim learnt the importance of adaptability and flexibility in therapy and how important it is to tailor therapy to the individual.
