Tom Underwood – NHS Senior Placement Lead

Tom Underwood is Senior Placement Lead, working across all our NHS Talking Therapies contracts to support our placement therapists. He plays a key role in operational delivery of our services, so we meet our objectives and quality assurances. Tom actively mentors, supports, and trains our therapists whilst liaising across our NHS clinical team for efficient operational practice.

Tom brings his previous experience in operational management within the corporate sector to his role, with much of his experience gained from working abroad. Returning to the UK, he decided to expand upon his original psychology degree, to train specifically in Counselling and Psychotherapy; working within the NHS service prior to qualification.

Tom has a genuine desire to support our therapists’ professional development, in addition to continued support for clients of cultural difference and those from LGBTQ+ communities. As a qualified integrative therapist, alongside his role within The Awareness Centre, Tom also runs his own successful private practice from the Clapham office of The Awareness Centre.
