Will McAdam is a trainee Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist, working towards his Diploma. He currently works in the Low-Cost counselling service in Clapham. As an integrative practitioner, he draws on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs, personality and moment-to-moment choices of his clients. He holds trainee membership of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and adheres to their ethical framework and professional standards.

Will believes each individual has a right to exist in the world as they are meant to be, and that therapy is a way of achieving and affirming this. He believes in the power of being seen and heard without judgement and he welcomes into the room all aspects of who his clients can be. This person-centred approach is supported by his understanding of the influence of early life experiences and relationship dynamics. He complements this with more active approaches, informed by Gestalt Therapy, which can help clients come into relationship with aspects of themselves that emerge during the work. He also works with creative approaches, from exploring the metaphors and images that clients bring, to creative writing and guided visualisation. This can offer clients the opportunity to make contact with parts of themselves that want to be seen and heard, but which don’t know how to express themselves through talking alone.

As a trainee psychotherapist, Will has experience working with clients who come to therapy for help with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, family issues, loneliness, stress and problems at work
