Charlene Birmingham – Lead Diploma Tutor
Charlene Birmingham is a lead tutor on the TAC Diploma in Integrative Counselling and is a BACP accredited therapist. She also works in private practice and at a London university providing support to students who are experiencing mental health difficulties and/or are neurodivergent. Previously, Charlene has worked as a therapist in different settings: local counselling services, workplace counselling, drugs and alcohol recovery. She has a background of nearly 20 years working within university administration.
Charlene’s core training was in humanistic approaches (Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis). She works exploratively and relationally with clients and places importance on creating a therapeutic environment where clients can relax into themselves. Charlene has a particular interest in the central human need ‘to survive’. Whilst having deep respect for the ways in which humans try to ‘get through’, she also appreciates working alongside clients as they discover newer, more fulfilling ways to navigate life and relationships.
As a tutor, Charlene aims to support her students in learning more about themselves and others, and to provide a facilitative space where curiosity, empathy and challenge can co-exist
