Mandy Wax – Senior Course Lead
Mandy Wax is the Senior Course Lead for The Awareness Centre Training School. She is responsible for the teaching and learning on the training programmes. She is a psychoanalyst, psychotherapist and educator.
Mandy’s background is in the study of continental philosophy and psychoanalysis, which she studied at Masters Level. She has a wealth of experience from working in educational settings prior to becoming a therapist, having attained her PGCE from King’s College London. Initially a classroom teacher, she was then curriculum lead and Head of Department for many years at a leading London girls’ school.
Mandy strives to ensure that each individual’s unique pathway is recognised and supported, enabling them to thrive academically and personally. Her approachability and genuine concern for students’ interests are central to her, and she believes in building strong relationships that facilitate effective communication and understanding.
Mandy trained at The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis and has worked as a therapist in a number of settings including the NHS, Mind in Barnet and The Albany Trust in addition to private practice and consultancy. She is experienced in working with both common and complex mental health problems.
