Mary-Claire Wilson - Lead Diploma Tutor

Mary-Claire Wilson is a Lead Tutor on TAC’s Diploma in Integrative Counselling. She’s a UKCP-accredited, BACP-registered Integrative psychotherapist and supervisor, with an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy. The modalities she integrates include person-centered, psychodynamic, transpersonal, existential, relational, and body-oriented. She’s worked in private practice for the last 10 years, and in various settings, including at MIND, offering therapy to local communities, and with adults with long-term mental health issues as part of the Forest Community Project. She holds a firm commitment to culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive practice. She’s been a BAATN (Black, African and Asian Therapy Network) Conference Speaker.

She’s run workshops for therapists and those in the caring professions on race, privilege, othering and intersectionality, drawing on lived experience, creative, clinical and research-based themes. She’s also run workshops on the ecological crisis. She believes in decolonising belief systems through constructive dialogue rather than polarisation. Her first MA was in English Language and Literature. She previously worked in the fields of journalism, art, and creative writing.

She brings a wealth of experience in teaching counselling theory and practice. She values a co-created and experiential learning environment that holds warmth, empathy, humility, and respectful challenge. She encourages students to create a synthesis of theory, personal process, and clinical application. She aims to inspire students to become effective and engaged practitioners.
