Susan Crawley - External Verifier
Susan Crawley serves as an External Verifier for the counselling courses at The Awareness Centre Training School. In this role, she provides independent oversight to ensure the academic standards, fairness, and comparability of the school’s counselling programmes. She reviews assessment frameworks and processes, scrutinises the quality and consistency of marking, and submits annual external verifier reports. Acting as a critical friend, Susan supports the maintenance of robust academic standards and alignment with sector expectations and comparable institutions. While she does not assess individual student work, she verifies the integrity of assessment systems and standards of performance, safeguarding the quality and reputation of the training school’s counselling courses. Susan has had the pleasure of working as an External Examiner for several years with other Educational Universities.
Susan is a qualified practising counsellor, clinical supervisor, and trainer, with postgraduate study to PgCert level at MSc standard. She brings extensive experience as a lecturer across a range of educational settings and holds a PGCE from Teesside University. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), recognising her commitment to the Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning in higher education.
Alongside her academic roles, Susan is a Specialist Counsellor for a National Disability Charity, where she provides a compassionate and reflective space for clients to explore complex life challenges. Her work is underpinned by a strong interest in Positive Psychology, which informs her counselling, supervision, and training practice, supporting individuals and professionals to develop resilience, insight, and wellbeing.
