If you are currently training to qualify as a psychosexual and relationship therapist and would like to gain experience working with individuals and couples, we’d love to hear from you.

Our Low Cost Psychosexual and Relationship Counselling Service offers therapists the opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience within our established counselling centres in Clapham and Tooting, South London.

Applicants must already be a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist or counselling psychologist and be undertaking further training as a psychosexual and relationship therapist towards COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) accreditation.

As part of your placement, you will work with a range of clients while being supported by a COSRT-registered clinical supervisor. Therapists are required to complete 150 clinical placement hours.

Low-Cost Psychosexual & Relationship Therapy Service

Our volunteer Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy Placement gives you the opportunity to develop your clinical experience within our Low-Cost Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy Service (LCPRS).

As a volunteer therapist, you will learn how to carry out a full psychosexual and relationship assessment and work with individuals and couples on an open-ended basis. This provides valuable experience and is excellent preparation for developing your own private practice.

Placements are available at our counselling centres in Clapham and Tooting, South London, where therapists provide face-to-face sessions. We also offer low-cost online psychosexual and relationship therapy to clients across the UK.

Our Low-Cost Service provides individual and couples therapy at a fixed fee, helping make specialist psychosexual and relationship therapy more accessible. As part of your placement, you can work with up to four clients per week, with face-to-face sessions available during the daytime from Monday to Friday and online sessions available during evenings and on Saturdays.

The Awareness Centre is an established placement provider offering in-person clinical experience in psychosexual and relationship therapy. Trainees joining this placement must already be registered with BACP, NCPS or UKCP.

About our placements

Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy Placements at The Awareness Centre give you the opportunity to work with individuals and couples seeking support with a wide range of sexual and relationship concerns, through both face-to-face and online sessions.

These may include sexual difficulties, intimacy and desire, differences in sexual needs, erectile difficulties, premature or delayed ejaculation, painful sex, vaginismus, sexual confidence, sexual identity, compulsive sexual behaviours, the impact of trauma or life changes on sexual relationships, communication difficulties, conflict, trust, infidelity, separation and changing relationship dynamics.

Your placement provides an opportunity to develop your therapeutic skills, integrate theory into clinical practice and build your confidence working with a diverse range of presenting issues. By gaining experience of both in-person and online therapy, you can develop the skills needed to work effectively with clients across different therapeutic settings.

The experience and clinical hours you gain will contribute towards the requirements of your psychosexual and relationship therapy training and help prepare you for practice as a qualified therapist.

Throughout your placement, our dedicated clinical team will support you in developing your skills and completing the clinical hours required as part of your COSRT psychosexual and relationship therapy training. You will also receive clinical supervision from a COSRT-accredited supervisor approved or recommended by your training institute.
