Amandeep Chana is a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He works using an Integrative approach which uses elements of Psychodynamic, Person Centred, Solution Focused and Transactional Analysis approaches. He has qualified with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from the Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Academy in London and has hundreds of hours of experience. He works in private practice at the Awareness Centre in Clapham on Monday evenings.

Amandeep provides an empathic, supportive and deeply personalised approach. Whilst the prospect of talking about feelings can sometimes be daunting, Amandeep is able to help people feel comfortable so they can explore their deepest emotions and feelings. Amandeep is able to sit with his clients, like a passenger in a car, and point out things that might be helpful or interesting as the client controls the direction and speed of the journey. He acknowledges that some parts of the journey may be more comfortable than others, and sometimes the speed may be faster or slower. He has a wide range of counselling experience, including working with people with anxiety, depression, life changing events and career changes.

As well as counselling, Amandeep had a long career in education, before moving to the NHS where he supported the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda. He also works for a leading mental health charity as a volunteer, supporting people with a wide range of mental health challenges from anxiety and depression to suicidal ideation. He has also worked as a career coach for a number of years. His motivation in counselling stems from wanting to support people in bringing about positive change in their lives.
