Aspen Chen

With an integrative approach, Aspen Chen tailors each session to suit the unique needs of her clients, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and existential approaches. By blending these methods, she ensures that clients receive personalised support to help them navigate life’s challenges and discover their own resilience. Aspen has a deep appreciation for diversity and an innate curiosity about different cultural perspectives. Having lived in different social systems  and cultural environments, she understands first hand the challenges of adapting to change, including feelings of isolation, helplessness, and frustration. These personal experiences have reinforced her belief that every individual’s journey is unique and valuable. Aspen is committed to creating a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment, where clients from all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and truly understood.

Originally trained in law, Aspen completed her undergraduate degree in China and worked as a litigation lawyer before discovering her true passion for mental health. During the pandemic, she embarked on a journey of self-reflection, which ultimately led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology in the UK. Now working within the education sector, Aspen combines her varied professional and personal experiences to offer meaningful support to those seeking help and healing.

Aspen is a integrative counsellor offering bilingual therapy in both English and Mandarin. A registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), she is currently furthering her expertise by pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative). Aspen is part of The Awareness Centre’s NHS Sutton counselling service, where she provides professional and compassionate support to a diverse range of clients.
