Asta Brandes firmly believes that an effective therapeutic environment is one where the client can talk about whatever they wish, without being judged in any way. As an integrative practitioner she draws on a range of therapy models aiming to create a flexible and highly personalized way of working. The integrative approach appreciates that people might benefit from different ways of working at different times of their lives. Sometimes a client might wish to explore troubling emotions, unhelpful thought patterns, sometimes it might be about navigating through life transitions, at other times the focus might be personal growth and development. And sometimes we might just need to simply talk and get things off our chest. Asta aims to provide a relationship that encourages authenticity, openness to change and personal growth.
Asta has a background in Hospitality, Human Resources and Learning & Development. She has always made it her aim to make other peoples’ life better, either through effective workplace policies, Human resources support and supporting employees through difficult times in their lives. Asta has a keen interest in the field of positive psychology, a field that enables individuals to thrive and live life to the fullest, through the cultivation of what is best in each individual. Other areas of interest are depression, bereavement, stress and workplace issues.
Asta is currently studying towards an advanced diploma in humanistic integrative counselling. As a BACP student member she fully adheres to their code of ethics.
