Gunilla Rukavina provides an open and warm approach. Within the therapy session she encourages clients to express themselves freely, she pays close attention to the client’s goals for the therapy and facilitates them in the development of a more positive self and future. Gunilla adheres to an integrative approach and therefore combines several approaches according to her client’s needs. More specifically she uses humanistic therapy to draw on the past behaviour and thoughts, she uses existential therapy to look at existential crises such as anxiety and isolation and to look at client’s goals in therapy and how to attain them in a realistic manner. Lastly she uses a humanistic approach in order to encourage clients to express themselves freely in which she is non-judgemental, empathetic and congruent within the therapeutic relationship. Her approach is unique for each client as she is convinced that one approach does not fit all.
Gunilla has a background in psychology and has had several international volunteer experiences in different countries. She therefore understands the different anxieties that diverse age groups may have within different cultures and has a keen interest in culture and diversity as well as immigration. She also has a background in HR which enabled her to understand the different needs of people as well as the issues within the work environment. She specialises in anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, personality disorders and schizophrenia. However, she also has a keen interest in addiction, eating disorders and abuse.
