Bernice Muyiwa-George
Bernice Muyiwa-George provides clients with a supportive, non-judgmental, and safe space where they can feel comfortable, heard, and seen for who they are, while helping them gain understanding and reach their full potential when it comes to self-development. Counselling can differ from person to person and Bernice is aware of the challenges that may arise. She can adapt and incorporate various techniques depending on individual needs.
As a counsellor, Bernice uses a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy, person-centred therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Psychodynamic approaches facilitate a deeper understanding of one’s emotions and can help gain insight into how you think and feel, while CBT can help you manage problems by changing how you think and behave. A person-centred approach emphasizes the individual’s ability to determine the pace and structure of their sessions, while being supported throughout the counselling process.
Previously, Bernice worked in the social care field, supporting children, adolescents, and adults with special educational needs and mental health conditions. Bernice holds qualifications in childcare. Her experience has influenced how she treats and communicates with people as she appreciates that we are individuals and have different abilities. Bernice is an integrative counsellor and is currently working towards her Counselling and Coaching BSc. Bernice is a member of the BACP. She provides counselling services in Lambeth.
