Corinne Juerakhan is a trainee counsellor working with the Awareness Centre’s Low-Cost Counselling Service in Clapham. She is training towards an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and works from an integrative perspective, drawing primarily on the person-centred approach. Corinne is a registered student member of the BACP and is committed to working within the BACP Ethical Framework, providing a safe, confidential and supportive space for clients.

Corinne believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings and challenges in an environment of warmth, empathy and acceptance. She aims to meet clients where they are, walking alongside them as they navigate their experiences and supporting them in developing greater self-awareness, resilience and personal growth.

While her practice is grounded in person-centred values, Corinne integrates a range of therapeutic approaches to respond to each client’s individual needs. She values authenticity, collaboration and the development of a therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect and transparency. Her expertise is not in one particular area, but she feels that her strengths may lie with people experiencing relational issues, loss of confidence, self-esteem and self-identity. Therapeutic support to explore their origins, impact and effect on self, and examine together how we process our place in the world, is an integral factor in helping one gain perspective and feel heard and validated.

Before training as a counsellor, Corinne worked as a teacher for almost 30 years and holds a degree in Psychology. She believes this experience has strengthened her empathy, communication skills and understanding of people’s diverse experiences, enabling her to offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and understood.
