Farzana Numan has a natural ability to create a warm, comfortable and supportive therapeutic space in her sessions which has the potential to facilitate the therapeutic healing and change that the client is seeking. The provision of a safe and supportive environment enables clients to express and process intense and difficult emotions and cope better with challenging life experiences. Farzana has a core person centred approach to therapy which means clients are encouraged and empowered to be at the driving seat of their therapy, Farzana possesses a wide range of psychoanalytical and focused therapy skills and interventions gained from her integrative training which enables her to tailor her therapy style to meet the diverse and unique needs of her clients.
Farzana’s varied professions include Lecturer, Trainer, Team Leader and Counsellor making her a highly ethical, supportive and empathic professional. The experiences gained over almost two decades in helping professions enables her to be naturally intuitive towards the needs of others, her focused approach to therapy ensures in-depth and effective use of session time. As a qualified and practicing counsellor she has experience of working with a diverse range of presenting issues e.g. paranoia, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, self esteem, social anxiety, suicidal ideation and self harm to name a few. Farzana has worked with a wide range of people from different race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, and abilities, therefore realises the paramountimportance to be sensitive to the diverse needs of her clients and work with them in a way that constitutes awareness and inclusivity in her approach.
Farzana is a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor and is currently training as a psychotherapist, she is in the 2ndyear of her Masters degree (MA in Psychotherapy). She is BACP registered and works for The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting.
