Georgina Brown
Georgina Brown is a dedicated Psychotherapist and Systemic Practitioner with a passion for nurturing and exploring the emotional well-being of children and families. With extensive experience across diverse settings, including schools, private practice, the NHS, social care, and online platforms, she brings a wealth of expertise to her practice. She works in private practice with adults, families, children (0-12 years), and adolescents (13-18 years) at The Awareness Centre in Tooting. She believes in providing a warm, empathetic, and safe space where every child and family receive a bespoke service tailored to their unique needs. Cultural and gender diversity are deeply respected fundamentals of her practice.
Georgina, draws on Systemic, Narrative, Attachment, and Psychodynamic models, and remains curious about the origin, function, purpose, and management of the symptoms. By incorporating insights from recent research papers, Georgina aims to collaborate and cultivate a deeper understanding with her client of their lived experience. Grounded in Play, Art, and Movement therapy, Georgina’s integrative approach allows her to think about unconscious patterns of behaviour, addressing unmet needs while fostering self-awareness and agency in her clients. Using creative methods, if desired, like pens, papers, clay, toys, and puppets, she creates an environment where children, families, young people and adults can comfortably explore their difficulties.
She currently works as a Complex Case Therapist in schools, conducting tailored 1:1 therapy sessions with children, collaborating closely with schools, social care, and families to effectively address therapeutic needs. As a parent of teenagers and young adults herself, Georgina understands the richness and complexity of these formative years, both from a personal and professional standpoint.
With an undergraduate degree from Durham in Psychology, her initial career was in film and television then she returned to study a Master’s in Counselling Children in Schools (Distinction), Georgina is deeply committed to ongoing professional development. Completing her Master’s qualification in Systemic Family Therapy in Summer 2026, she is dedicated to exploring and being curious about different cultures, contexts, systems and experiences. She is a member of AFT (Association of Family Therapists) and a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), she also is a Systemic Practitioner – Institute of Family Therapy (2021-2022) and has recent CPD Mentalization Based Treatments with CYPF MBT-CYP), Anna Freud (2022) and a Certificate in Parent Child Therapy (IATE) (2021).
