Hannah Wilmot
Hannah Wilmot is a qualified integrative counsellor, working in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Clapham. She is a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and follows their Ethical Framework. Hannah has experience of working with clients in a variety of settings including the NHS and schools.
Hannah offers a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space for clients to talk about difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. Coming to counselling can be daunting and Hannah knows how important it is for clients to feel safe within a trusting relationship with their counsellor. She offers an environment where clients feel seen, heard and understood, and this she believes, is the first step on the journey of positive change. Hannah uses an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on person-centred and psychodynamic theories to explore immediate issues as well as looking at established patterns of thought and behaviour stemming from the client’s past. Tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs, she aims to help people gain personal insights; become more self-accepting; make choices and find solutions; and move towards a more rewarding life.
With a background in community arts, Hannah is used to working with people from all walks of life. She understands the pressures and challenges many of us face in day-to-day life and the impact this can have on our mental wellbeing. Her work has given her an appreciation of difference and diversity, the importance of avoiding assumptions and the need to really listen to what people are saying. Drawing on her own experiences, she is particularly interested in significant life-transitions and the associated change and loss that can be experienced. Hannah has worked successfully with clients experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-worth and relationship difficulties.
