Isobel Kho is a trainee counsellor working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and accreditation at The Awareness Centre. She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and currently works with NHS talking therapy online service through Sutton. She previously completed Levels 2 and 3 in Counselling Skills and has been passionate about the positive change counselling can facilitate since beginning her own therapeutic journey. Isobel takes an integrative approach, drawing on different therapeutic modalities to tailor her work to each individual and their needs.

Isobel offers a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where clients can feel comfortable being open and honest about their experiences, thoughts and emotions. She believes that being met with empathy, encouragement and genuine acceptance can help clients recognise and draw upon the inner resources they already possess. Her integrative approach allows her to draw particularly on Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Person-Centred approaches. She has a keen interest in the Gestalt focus on the ‘here and now’ and finds that exploring experiences and emotions in visual and creative ways can help clients gain new perspectives on their presenting concerns. Through a Transactional Analysis lens, she explores relational dynamics and recurring patterns, supporting clients to consider whether these patterns are helping or hindering them in their everyday lives. Alongside this, she values the core conditions of the Person-Centred approach and the importance of offering a collaborative, client-led therapeutic relationship.

Before becoming a counsellor, Isobel worked in Operations across Europe, collaborating with people from a variety of backgrounds and adapting to different needs and ways of working. Her experience within a corporate environment has given her an understanding of the pressures that professional and personal responsibilities can bring, as well as how isolating and overwhelming life can feel when those pressures become difficult to manage. This experience informs her flexible and individualised approach, as she recognises that everyone processes their thoughts, feelings and experiences differently. Isobel is particularly drawn to working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, loss and low self-esteem. She works collaboratively with clients to explore the roots of their challenges, develop new perspectives and identify ways of navigating difficulties, while encouraging them to recognise and harness the inner resources they already hold.
