Luís Carrasqueiro creates a warm, non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. He understands that counselling is not only about addressing difficult challenges but also about discovering and nurturing his clients’ strengths and potential. Luís draws on various therapeutic approaches, particularly psychodynamic and humanistic, to best support his clients’ individual needs. He believes that by listening carefully and deeply to each client, they can work together to make sense of the client’s experiences and difficulties, and help them find new paths forward. Luís recognises how each person’s history, major life challenges, self-expectations, and external pressures can lead to unhelpful behaviours, stress, depression, and anxiety.

Having lived in four countries across three continents and worked with diverse cultures, languages, and indigenous peoples, Luís has developed a deep appreciation for various cultures and identities. His openness to diversity allows him to connect genuinely with people from many backgrounds. He began his adult life as a scientist but became increasingly drawn to understanding ourselves and our connections with those around us. His experience as a senior leader in government, business, and the not-for-profit sectors provides him with valuable insights into workplace relational issues.#

Currently, Luís is working towards becoming an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and he is a student member of the BACP. He is pursuing a Diploma in Integrative Counselling at the Minster Centre in London, with plans to complete their MA programme. He is on placement at NHS Wandsworth Talking Therapies.
