Nuran Alpay
Nuran provides an empathetic and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviour at their own pace. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process which empowers clients to develop self-awareness, resilience, and self-acceptance. Nuran helps clients to understand the underlying patterns that influences their struggles, and she supports them in finding healthier ways to navigate life’s challenges. Depending on the client’s needs, Nuran may incorporate aspects of psychodynamic therapy to explore the client’s past experiences, and humanistic approaches to allow self-acceptance. With her intercultural perspective, she ensures that her approach to therapy is inclusive and supportive of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Nuran is also able to support clients who are Turkish speakers, offering them a space where they can express themselves comfortably in their native language.
Nuran’s journey into counselling stems from her own personal experiences. Having faced her own struggles growing up, she sought therapy as a teenager and found it beneficial in navigating the challenges she experienced. This ignited her passion for helping others as she understands the impact of feeling lost or overwhelmed. As she knows how difficult it can be to struggle alone, she is committed to being a strong source of support for her clients.
Alongside her role as a Trainee Counsellor, Nuran is also a Mentor and has over 10 years of combined experience as an Advisor, Carer, and HR professional. She has supported adults with their mental health and wellbeing in the corporate and charity sector, allowing her to deepen her understanding of personal development, emotional wellbeing, and the impact of external pressures on mental health. Her diverse background allows her to connect with clients from different walks of life, offering insight and guidance in areas such as anxiety, self-esteem, family issues, and self-harm. Nuran is committed to helping clients to build empowerment and self-discovery and foster long-term emotional growth.
She is a member of the BACP and is working towards a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Nuran primarily works with adults and has experience supporting clients with self-harm, anxiety, family issues, and self-esteem challenges. Her therapeutic approach is informed by psychodynamic, humanistic, and intercultural modalities, allowing her to provide a flexible therapeutic experience tailored to each client. Nuran is a Trainee Integrative Counsellor currently working at the NHS Counselling Service in Lambeth.
