Donna Lemaitre Is an experienced Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP working in private practice at the Awareness Centre. She also holds a certificate in Online and Telephone counselling. Currently, she is studying Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic and Integrative counselling. Donna has attended numerous CPD courses to further and enhance her knowledge and development in areas such as trauma, abuse, anxiety, bereavement, depression and self-acceptance.

Donna is dedicated to providing a safe, warm, empathetic and non-judgemental space where she can explore with clients their thoughts and feelings at their own space without fear of judgement. In her private practice her approach is person-centred on the beliefs that the client is the expert in their own life. She will encourage you to develop insight and a deeper understanding of your situation, while supporting you to gain confidence to enhance self-development.

She also uses a variety of models and techniques to combine her skills such as Psychodynamic and CBT models and tailors this to work with the client’s unique needs. Her goal is to support the client in gaining self-awareness, making sense of their experiences and to find a way forward that is right for the client. She works therapeutically with individuals to navigate life’s challenges and to heal from the past or current concerns.

Donna worked as a Volunteer Counsellor with the mental health charity. Her role entailed using counselling skills in an integrative way to work for the well-being of people who are experiencing any kind of mental distress. She worked with a range of clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, abuse, stress, anger, PTSD, low self- esteem and life issues. Donna also worked as a Bereavement Support Volunteer at St Christopher’s hospice for 3 years. Her role was to empathically support clients through their grieving process. Through her professional and own personal experience, she learnt how bereavement and feelings of grief are not only associated to the loss of a person through death but also several life transitions. Donna uses her counselling knowledge and skills to give a client space to process their grief.

Having experienced being a client in therapy herself, she knows how rewarding and sometimes challenging counselling can be. Donna says that ‘coming out the other side with a new sense of understanding, perspective and focus has been incredibly empowering’
