Angelica Newby is a trainee Person-centred Pluralistic counsellor. She is a registered member with the BACP. She works with The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.

Working within a pluralistic person-centred approach means Angelica can tailor sessions to individual client preferences and needs. Angelica’s modality of therapy holds the client in a warm and compassionate manor, with emphasis on them being the expert of their world. Angelica has a strong passion for the person-centred approach and believes through empathic understanding and presence she can support clients on their journey to psychological change. Working pluralistically Angelica endeavours to meet client needs and support them in their unique ways of being, this may be through creative methods such as mindfulness, or music for example. Working within the person-centred approach means that Angelica is led by the client, and is able to flow with what is present for them at each given time. This can change session to session or even within a single session. Angelica believes this way of working means we are better able to understand the clients whole world, as a whole person. Understanding and prizing clients individuality is highly important in Angelica’s way of working, and such she is adaptive in her approach to therapy.

Having worked in the aesthetics industry for over 10 years Angelica is able to create a comfortable and warm space for clients to feel relaxed. She has had experience in one-to-one environments with clients of all walks of life and understands different life pressures and stresses. Angelica’s focus is on making each client feel seen, heard and held in every session. With experience as a neurodiverse individual Angelica recognising difference and what impact that can have on a person. Angelica has experience working long term with clients, which is her preferred way of working. Working in this manor gives space and time to unpack and explore the clients way of being, and life experiences. She believes approaching therapy in this way develops a strong therapeutic relationship and understanding.

Angelica’s hope is that clients are able to feel warm, welcomed, supported and safe when working together.
