Basia Brzeziecka provides an emphatic, congruent and non-judgemental supportive space where she assists the clients to explore thoughts and emotions and make sense of why they are thinking and feeling a certain way and obtain more accurate sense of who they are. Basia works according to Person-Centred approach, which means that she deals with the ways in which clients perceive themselves consciously, rather than how a counsellor can interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas.  This approach works to understand a client’s experience from their perspective. The therapist positively values the client as a person in all aspects of their humanity, while aiming to be open and genuine. This helps the client feel accepted, and better able to understand their own feelings. The approach can help the client to reconnect with their inner values and sense of self-worth, thus enabling them to find their own way to move forward and progress. The core purpose of person-centred therapy is to facilitate our ability to self-actualise – the belief that all of us will grow and fulfil our potential. This approach facilitates the personal growth and relationships of a client by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity. The counsellor aids this process, providing vital support to the client and they make their way through this journey.

With a background within mental health Basia has a passion and experience in listening and providing support. She offers an emphatic and congruent safe space where you will be unconditionally accepted as she would accompany you on your unique journey of personal development. She would explore your concerns in a confidential and safe space to facilitate your positive change and personal growth. She would work with you to help you gain greater insight about your current situation and relationships, so that you may develop more awareness for the future. Gaining greater awareness can create possibilities in life, a greater sense of fulfilment, and modify old perspectives.

Basia is a Person-Centred Approach counsellor trainee. She works within The Awareness Centre’s Low Cost Counselling Service in Clapham. Basia is currently working towards a higher professional diploma at Lewisham Counselling & Counsellor Training Associates.
