Brigitte Ferreira
Brigitte Ferreira is an integrative psychotherapist working within NHS Talking Therapies through The Awareness Centre. She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and holds an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has experience supporting adults experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties across clinical and community settings. Brigitte has undertaken additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which inform her integrative approach. She is committed to providing a safe, confidential and supportive therapeutic environment where clients can explore their experiences and work towards meaningful change.
Brigitte offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can feel heard, understood and accepted, allowing them to explore their experiences at their own pace. She believes that a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change and works collaboratively with each client, recognising that everyone’s needs and experiences are different. Her integrative approach enables her to draw on a range of therapeutic modalities, including insights from DBT and EMDR, depending on what is most appropriate for the individual. Brigitte supports clients to develop greater self-awareness, understand patterns of thinking, emotions and behaviour, and build resilience. She also encourages clients to explore both the challenges they are experiencing in the present and any deeper issues that may be influencing their wellbeing, helping them move towards greater self-understanding, balance and fulfilment.
Before training as a psychotherapist, Brigitte worked in the public sector, supporting complex programmes and policy development. This experience has given her a strong understanding of the pressures that can arise within demanding professional environments, as well as the impact of workplace stress, organisational change and the challenges of balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Her previous career also informs her understanding of identity, transition and the uncertainty that can accompany periods of significant change. Brigitte has a particular interest in working with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, trauma, and challenges relating to work-life balance. She welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds and is committed to creating an inclusive and affirming therapeutic environment in which individuals feel respected, supported and able to explore what matters to them.
