Lily Anderson-Nicholls
Lily Anderson-Nichols is a trainee counsellor and a registered member of the BACP, working in accordance with its ethical standards. She is currently working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre and works with clients at the NHS Talking Therapies in Clapham. Lily works with clients experiencing a range of issues, including feeling stuck, low self-esteem and low mood. Her integrative approach draws primarily on person-centred and other humanistic therapies, allowing her to adapt the therapeutic process to each client’s individual needs and experiences.
Lily believes that you are the expert in your own life and that therapy is a collaborative process. She offers a warm, calm and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. Through open and compassionate dialogue, she aims to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, including the thoughts, beliefs and patterns that may be holding you back. Lily understands that beginning therapy can feel difficult or uncomfortable, particularly if it is your first experience of counselling, and takes a gentle and empathetic approach to building a trusting therapeutic relationship. She works alongside you to explore what you would like to change, understand or develop, with the aim of helping you feel freer and less burdened by the patterns that may be affecting your life.
Before becoming a therapist, Lily worked for many years in corporate environments, giving her a personal understanding of the pressures and demands that working life can bring. She recognises that work can have a significant impact on our wellbeing, relationships and sense of self, particularly when navigating challenging workplace relationships, stress or the demands of a busy career alongside other areas of life. Lily also has a particular interest in self-esteem and body image, and in exploring how our beliefs about our bodies, health and identity can influence the way we experience ourselves and the world around us. She welcomes the opportunity to work with clients who may be struggling with these concerns or who simply want to better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives.
