Hasan Naeem is a trainee integrative counsellor, currently in the final year of his Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Working within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service, he offers a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental space for clients to be heard and supported in finding solutions to their problems that feel authentic to them. At the core of Hasan’s therapeutic approach is the foundational belief that individuals hold incredible resources within themselves. When provided with a strong client-therapist relationship built on consistency, empathy, and gentle challenge where helpful, clients will organically move towards healing and growth. He works collaboratively with clients on a wide variety of different situations, whether that be simply helping them process current events, partnering on significant choices and decisions, unearthing limiting beliefs, or exploring their identity and relationships. Hasan is a registered student member of the BACP and is currently available for online sessions on Fridays from 6pm to 10pm.

Hasan has been trained on a wide range of therapeutic modalities, and holds particular interest in person-centred therapy, psychodynamic and Jungian approaches, Transactional Analysis (TA), trauma & inner child work and how one’s various parts show up in different situations to function alongside each other (IFS). He enjoys incorporating polyvagal theory into his practice and exploring the mind-body connection via meditation, breathwork or other somatic enquiry. Hasan also holds a particular interest in Relational Life Therapy (RLT), the Gottman method, and how one’s Attachment styles and early childhood experiences play out as recurring patterns in one’s adult relationships. He likes to bring hope and belief to clients that they can break out of these patterns given the right awareness and tools. At the end of the day, Hasan believes in a tailored approach for each client, for them to feel seen, and in teaming up with his clients to bring and maintain a sense of safety and groundedness to their inner worlds.

Areas of interest for Hasan include a broad range of challenges such as anxiety, bullying, depression, stress, life transitions, isolation & loneliness, anger, loss, self-esteem, sexuality and sex issues, family issues, illness, relationships, addiction, guilt & shame, and workplace issues. Prior to his counselling training, Hasan spent 19 years working within the corporate financial services sector. This background ensures he deeply understands the intense pressures that modern life can put on us, and he brings a sensitivity to the diverse range of cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences that clients carry. He views mental health as part of a vibrant tapestry where the various aspects of clients’ lives are all interconnected, working holistically with the whole of the person rather than viewing a single presenting issue as existing in isolation.
