Iliyana Encheva
Iliyana provides empathetic, supportive environment where the clients can share their feelings, thoughts and problems without being judged. Iliyana believes that everyone has the power within themselves to grow and evolve. She works with the clients to explore a range of techniques and theories that complement who the clients are and what they would like to achieve during therapy. Iliyana is using an integrative approach to help the clients understand their own feelings and help them find their own way of coping with their issues. She is using person-centred approach to enable the clients to feel heard, valued and help them build confidence in their true self. Iliyana also uses a psychodynamic approach to enable the clients to become more self-aware about how their past experiences influence their present lives, and their relationships with self and others.
Iliyana has a background in care work, that enabled her to build her counselling skills. Working with vulnerable people helped her to reflect on the importance of communicating with empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. Working within a care home setting enabled her to build her teamwork skills. She saw how powerful could be to be present for the clients, listening to what they wanted to share and value what they were going through. Showing the clients empathy and understanding, Iliyana was able to build strong relationships with her clients and that enabled her to help them change their feelings and behaviour towards their conditions, in a positive way.
Iliyana is currently working towards a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Iliyana Encheva is an integrative counsellor trainee and is a registered student member of the BACP. She works on short-term/time limited basis within The Awareness Centre’s NHS service in Sutton.
