Jo Dadd
Jo Dadd is an integrative counsellor and is a student member of the BACP. Jo is in her final year of a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, having completed Levels 2 and 3. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
Jo works with you to creates an empathetic and gentle space where clients are met with compassion and non-judgement to explore and understand their thoughts and feelings. Jo is training as an Integrative Counsellor with person-centred therapy as the foundation of her practice. She believes that we are the ‘expert ‘ of ourselves and as she figuratively ‘walks alongside’ to enable clients at their own pace to explore goals, themes and narratives. Jo may incorporate CBT to help with thoughts and behaviours if this is beneficial to the client, she also uses some psychodynamic techniques to explore and enrich the therapeutic relationship – helping the client to unpick long held defences which may no longer serve them. Ultimately, Jo feels strongly that each session is client led, focussing on their agenda and working collaboratively to explore and achieve greater understanding of themselves.
Before Jo became a trainee counsellor, she worked in a fast-paced Executive Recruitment environment. Having benefitted hugely from her own counselling journey following a family bereavement, Jo decided to retrain as a counsellor. This allows her natural warmth and listening skills to be front and centre for the client, helping others make sense of their own thought processes, feelings, and narratives. Jo feels the power of being really heard can truly make a difference to our lives.
