Kat provides a deeply empathetic and nurturing space for people of all backgrounds. She welcomes diversity and is experienced with working with both young adults and people going through life changes. Using the Humanistic approach; which includes Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt modalities she deeply believes that together in the room, clients are able to form an understanding of themselves in the Here and Now while accepting with compassion the There and Then. These modalities focus on the importance of listening, holding with empathy, understanding oneself in the context of relationship and accessing what the client truly feels in order to be able to re-order ideas of self and esteem in helpful ways. She is able to provide a safe and holding space for people affected by sexual assault in both adulthood and childhood. She also has experience with issues regarding pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. Empathetic and non-judgemental, she is able to hold difficult feelings, anger, trauma, shame and loss.

With a background in the creative arts, Kat has experienced people from all walks of life. She volunteered as a patient liaison for the NHS during Covid and is familiar with both life threatening and chronic illness and its challenges. She currently mentors young people with addiction issues with drugs and alcohol. She has a broad scope of life experience to draw empathy from and embodies a creative and warm approach to the developing needs of each client.

Kat Scorer is a counsellor working at the Low Cost Counselling Service, Tooting. She is registered with BACP and is currently working towards completing her advanced diploma in Humanistic BSC.
