Leon Wander is a trainee integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He is currently working towards his Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre and practising with NHS Talking Therapies in Lambeth. Leon has worked with adults and young adults and plans to continue working with under-18s as well. His integrative training allows him to draw from different modalities, ranging from Person-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Gestalt to Psychodynamic Therapy, and to recognise the importance of adapting therapy to each client’s unique experiences.

Leon is committed to providing a confidential, warm and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences. Central to his work is the connection created with clients, allowing them to fully explore their stories, thoughts and emotions while developing greater self-awareness and confidence in navigating life’s challenges. Leon recognises that each client’s experiences are unique and adapts his approach accordingly. He has experience supporting clients experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including depression, anxiety, self-doubt, relationship challenges and life transitions. He aims to create a supportive space where clients can explore their experiences openly and work towards greater understanding and confidence.

Alongside his training, Leon brings almost 20 years of experience in therapeutic work, coupled with a career in performance. He continues to work as a facilitator with young people from Year 6 through to Sixth Form, as well as in corporate settings. He is a trained Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) and helps to run workshops around mental health and wellbeing with CEOs, managers, team leaders and peer-to-peer groups, in places such as Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s and St John Ambulance, to name a few. He runs programmes in schools across South East London, supporting the transition from Year 6 to Year 7, as well as programmes focused on working with young boys and men to help tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG). With an acting background, Leon brings a set of transferable skills that can be key in helping people build confidence and self-worth, and he is able to use techniques that allow clients to explore past and present moments safely. Leon also has a background in Sales and HR, bringing a vast range of experience, empathy and understanding to his work.
