Sophie Bulkeley
Sophie Bulkeley is a trainee Integrative Counsellor practising online with NHS Talking Therapies in Lambeth. She is a registered student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and is currently working towards an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre. Sophie’s integrative approach enables her to draw on a range of therapeutic models, including Person-Centred, Gestalt and Solution-Focused approaches, allowing her to tailor therapy to each individual. She supports clients to explore their experiences, develop greater self-awareness and identify meaningful steps towards positive change. Her work is grounded in the belief that therapy is a collaborative process and that each person brings their own unique experiences, needs and strengths to the therapeutic relationship.
Sophie offers a warm, compassionate, safe and non-judgemental space where clients can feel heard, accepted and valued for who they are. She works with empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuine curiosity, taking the time to understand each client and what has brought them to therapy. Her approach is collaborative and personalised, allowing clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace. Drawing on Person-Centred principles, Sophie places particular importance on developing a trusting and respectful therapeutic relationship in which clients feel comfortable being open and honest. Her Solution-Focused approach can help clients recognise their existing strengths and resources, consider what they would like to be different and explore realistic steps towards change. Sophie aims to create a space where clients can make sense of their experiences without fear of judgement, while developing greater self-acceptance and a stronger connection with their authentic selves.
Before training as a counsellor, Sophie worked in the property industry as a project manager, where she developed extensive experience of working with a wide range of people and managing complex projects, relationships and competing needs. She also has experience in placemaking, working closely with local communities and developing an understanding of the importance of listening to people and creating environments that reflect their needs and experiences. Sophie’s own journey into therapy began seven years ago during a period of significant life change. This experience deepened her appreciation of the courage it can take to seek support and continues to influence the compassionate and accepting way she works with clients. Sophie has a particular interest in supporting people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, stress and difficulties with addiction. She welcomes the opportunity to work alongside clients as they make sense of their experiences, gain greater self-awareness and move towards a more accepting and authentic way of being.
