Lisa Guy offers clients a warm, supportive and compassionate therapeutic relationship which is also empathic, non-judgemental and congruent. She works with clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions, enabling them to gain a better understanding of their life experience, and to find their own way forward to develop a more fulfilling and satisfying life. She empathically understands that it can be difficult to make sense of life events and changes and believes it is important to offer a safe, trustworthy and confidential space for clients to not only embark on a journey of self-exploration and change, but also to gain a feeling of value and self-worth which is important for self-development and growth.
Lisa’s approach is integrative, taking in to consideration that each client is unique as well as their life experience and works therapeutically with clients in a way which is best suited to their needs. Working with person centred, humanistic and psychodynamic models, she aims to provide a space to clients which enables them to safely explore the issues which they choose to work through at their own pace.
Lisa has a background in IT and has developed an understanding of the challenges of the work environment and how it can impact the personal areas of an individual’s life, and vice versa. She has an interest in depression, stress, workplace and communication issues, self-esteem and self-confidence, family and relationship issues, and has gained experience in supporting colleagues going through these challenges. She developed a passion for Counselling upon learning and understanding for herself how therapy can bring about helpful and positive changes within a person’s journey of life. Since gaining experience by providing mentoring support within IT, and volunteering at Norwood and Brixton Foodbank, she has developed more of a desire to work therapeutically with clients from various walks of life and to learn how to support them.
Lisa is working towards the CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and is a member of BACP. She is a placement counsellor based at The Awareness Centre in Tooting where she works within the Low-Cost Counselling Service.
