Mariam Nasar
Mariam Nasar is an integrative counsellor with over five years’ experience working in mental health and wellbeing. She currently works within the NHS, supporting people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Mariam is currently completing a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre and is a registered student member of the BACP. Her integrative approach draws on a range of therapeutic modalities, including person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, Gestalt and solution-focused approaches. She believes that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process and that each person brings their own experiences, needs and ways of understanding the world. Mariam aims to create a safe, warm and non-judgemental environment where clients can feel heard, understood and supported as they explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Mariam takes a collaborative and individualised approach to therapy, adapting her way of working to meet each client’s needs and goals. She believes that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process and works at a pace that feels comfortable for the individual. Drawing on person-centred principles, she offers empathy, acceptance and genuine understanding, while her psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches can help clients explore how past experiences, relationships and patterns may influence their thoughts, emotions and behaviours in the present. Her use of Gestalt and solution-focused approaches can also support clients in developing greater awareness of their experiences and identifying practical ways forward. Whether clients are struggling with something they are facing now or want to understand themselves and their relationships more deeply, Mariam provides a space where they can explore what matters to them openly and without judgement.
Mariam works with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, loss, relationship difficulties and significant life changes. She also has experience supporting clients affected by trauma, domestic abuse and sexual abuse, as well as those wishing to explore childhood experiences, family dynamics and attachment or relationship patterns that may continue to affect their emotional wellbeing. Her experience within mental health and the NHS has given her an understanding of the different challenges people may face and the importance of seeing each person as an individual rather than focusing solely on their difficulties. Mariam is committed to helping clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their emotions and their relationships, while supporting them to recognise their strengths and work towards meaningful and lasting change.
