Marisa Isidore
Marisa Isidore is a dramatherapist working with adults and children 11+ Years, in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Tooting. She offers a warm, confidential space where clients are able to explore thoughts and feelings safely, without judgement.
Dramatherapy gives clients the opportunity to delve into issues using as much or as little talking as the client feels comfortable with. Sessions are typically a combination of creative activities alongside a degree of talking, to allow for reflection.
Marisa believes the therapeutic relationship is a key aspect of the healing journey, and feels passionate about supporting the development and growth of her clients. Marisa tailors each session according to what the client needs. She may use Integral Eye Movement Therapy to help reduce the intensity around unwanted emotions, feelings and even memories if necessary. She may use dramatherapy to explore clients’ personal narratives to help empower clients to reframe their story, or a combination of both modalities may be used.
Marisa has a background in both the creative arts as well as extensive experience working with children and adolescents, in various settings including primary and secondary schools, pupil referral units, SEND schools and charities. She also has some experience working with asylum-seeking and refugee adolescents and young adults. Her experience has led her to have a deep level of understanding and empathy towards the challenges faced by adolescents and young adults including anxiety, anger and identity issues. Marisa is also an experienced practitioner of energy healing and believes in working holistically – seeing the client as a whole, meaning she understands that our issues affect us on a mental, emotional and physical level.
Marisa has a Masters degree in Drama and Movement Therapy from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and is registered with The Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC) and a full member of The British Association of Dramatherapists (BADTH). Her other qualifications include a certificate in Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT). Marisa holds an enhanced DBS certificate.
