Mary Crisp
Mary is a trainee counsellor in her final year of a Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre. Along with her work for the Low-Cost Counselling Service at the Awareness Centre, she supports individuals. She is registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy BACP. Mary offers warm and compassionate support to her clients and believes that no issue is too big or small to bring to counselling.
As an integrative therapist, she uses different tools for each client, from practical solution-focused techniques for short-term work, to longer-term explorations of relationships and behavioural pattens for those who wish to go deeper. She will work to a timescale and at a pace to suit you, respecting your autonomy and individuality. She aims to create a safe and non-judgmental space in which you can explore difficult or shameful feelings, examine relationship dynamics, and increase self-awareness. Mary has worked with many issues including anxiety, depression, grief, guilt, hopelessness, isolation, life transitions and loss of identity. She has done additional training to support victims of domestic abuse.
With a background in the high-pressure world of broadcast media, she understands the impact of work on our mental health, and can help you with stress, burnout, workplace conflict and the challenges that come when employment comes to an end. Mary works hard to establish a warm, empathetic and trusting relationship which allows you to feel accepted and understood, enabling you to cope better with life’s challenges. She welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, faiths and genders.
