Mini Rajendran
Mini is a trainee integrative counsellor working within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service. She is currently working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and is committed to providing a warm, ethical, and compassionate therapeutic service. Mini is a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Drawing on an integrative approach, she works collaboratively with clients, adapting her practice to meet each person’s individual needs and experiences. She believes that meaningful therapeutic change begins with a trusting relationship, created through genuine listening, empathy, and acceptance. Her aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where clients feel able to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. She believes that every client is the expert in their own life and that healing is fostered through being truly heard and understood. At the heart of her work is the therapeutic relationship, built through active listening, curiosity, and holding each client’s unique experience with respect and compassion. Her integrative approach allows her to draw on different therapeutic perspectives, tailoring therapy to what feels most helpful for each individual. She works alongside clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, identity issues, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. She is passionate about creating an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment where clients feel accepted without judgement and empowered to develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and lasting change.
Before training as a counsellor, she built a successful career across IT, education, and business, giving her a strong understanding of workplace pressures, organisational change, and the impact that demanding professional environments can have on mental wellbeing. Having lived as an expatriate in different countries, she also brings a personal understanding of relocation, cultural adjustment, identity, belonging, and the challenges of building a life away from home. These experiences enable her to work sensitively with clients navigating cultural differences, migration, and major life transitions.
She values diversity and is committed to understanding each client’s unique story, recognising how culture, family, relationships, and life experiences shape who they are. Her approach combines warmth, authenticity, and thoughtful reflection to help clients build insight, strengthen their emotional wellbeing, and move towards a more fulfilling life.
