Nicole’s relational lead approach provides a caring and encouraging space where clients can feel heard and safe to share their stories. Nicole does not believe in a one-model ‘fit all’ approach, so she integrates different techniques and modalities depending on the client’s current distress and therapeutic goals. She is focused on the ‘here and now’ approach and use evidence-based CBT to help clients develop coping skills and awareness of their thoughts and behaviours, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to support creating healthier relationships, and Creative Therapies as tools to help clients put their feelings into words, such as Art Therapy, and Systemic Therapy to assist with systemic issues.

With a background in criminology, Nicole is interested in inpatient settings. She has worked in mental health hospitals with schizophrenia, psychosis and personality disorders, with an interest in promoting counselling and psychotherapy. Therapy sessions with Nicole take place in English and Portuguese. However, she is cross-cultural, can understand French and Spanish well and specialises in cultural psychology. Nicole is aware of the influence of someone’s culture on their thoughts, behaviours and mental health. She also has experience working and researching neurodivergence, in particular, ADHD and ASD.

Nicole Neumann is an integrative counsellor psychologist, psychotherapist trainee, and member of the UKCP. She has a BSc and two MScs in psychotherapies and is in a doctoral program to earn full accreditation with the UKCP, BACP, and HCPC. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham and NHS services in NHS Wandsworth.
