Sarah English
Sarah English is a psychotherapist offering Transactional Analysis and Integrative Psychotherapy at The Awareness Centre in Clapham. She has a post-graduate level diploma in Transactional Analysis and is a diploma in Relational, Developmentally-based Integrative Psychotherapy. She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA) and the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO). She has undergone additional training in working with trauma and has trained other therapists in working safely and effectively online.
Sarah is a warm, compassionate person who helps clients to gain awareness and understand themselves, and others, better. She uses Transactional Analysis (TA), which is a therapy based around each of us having different parts – our Parent, Adult and Child parts which are often in conflict with each other, leading to us feeling confused and stuck, depressed and anxious. Sarah is interested in how we have adapted to fit in with what we learnt other people wanted, and over time, we can forget who we truly are. By blending Integrative therapy with TA, Sarah helps clients uncover the emotional needs we all had as kids and these unmet needs can be playing out now, as adults – Sarah helps clients to make sense of their past – equipping clients to move forward with awareness and options.
Sarah is interested in self-esteem and how we form ourselves from our experiences, as well as how suppressed emotions can lead to depressive illness. Sarah also has a special interest in supporting people going through fertility treatment, such as IVF and IUI, and pre and post-natal depression and anxiety, birth trauma (for both the birthing mother and the birth partner) and post-birth body shame including pelvic organ prolapse (POP), C-Section scars and stretch marks.
