Saskia Nett
Saskia Nett is a trainee integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is in the final year of a Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre and practises with NHS Talking Therapies in Lambeth. She also holds an MSc in Social Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Derby, accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). As an integrative counsellor, Saskia draws on psychodynamic theory and humanistic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis (TA). She has experience supporting clients with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, both in her private practice and within NHS Talking Therapies.
Saskia places great importance on building a trusting, collaborative therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe to explore their experiences, relationships and emotions without fear of judgement. Her approach is compassionate, gentle and responsive to each person’s individual needs, recognising that there is no single way of working that suits everyone. She welcomes all aspects of her clients, particularly those that may feel painful, neglected or difficult to accept. Drawing on psychodynamic theory, she helps clients explore how early experiences and relationships can shape present-day fears, attachment patterns and ways of relating to others. She may also incorporate Gestalt principles to help clients connect with their bodily sensations and immediate emotions, particularly when they find themselves spending much of their time in their heads. In her NHS work, she draws on short-term, solution-focused principles to help clients recognise their strengths, develop coping strategies and work towards meaningful, achievable change. Saskia believes that feeling genuinely seen and understood can be an important starting point for personal growth, helping clients recognise patterns that may be affecting their relationships or professional lives and explore new ways of moving forward. She offers therapy in both English and German.
Saskia has experience supporting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low confidence, guilt, shame, identity-related concerns and parenting challenges, as well as those navigating the lasting effects of distressing or overwhelming experiences. She is particularly interested in working with relational difficulties, attachment issues and significant life transitions. Through therapy, she supports clients in understanding recurring patterns, rebuilding trust in themselves and others, establishing healthier boundaries and developing a greater sense of stability in their lives. Her academic background in social psychology and psychology informs her understanding of how personal experiences, relationships and wider social influences can shape emotional wellbeing and behaviour. She brings this perspective into her therapeutic work, helping clients make sense of their experiences with curiosity and compassion.
