Spencer Barron provides an integrative humanistic approach (which means drawing from varied therapeutic approaches and interventions), striving for connectedness in the here and now. He meets you exactly where you are, open to the journey you and he take together on the path of therapy. He received his training from CPPD in North London, one of the UK’s leading proponents of humanistic integrative theory and practice. Spencer is registered with the BACP (Accredited) and adheres to their ethical framework. He works in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Tooting.

As a final year student studying a Level 7 Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, Spencer can offer lower-cost relationship therapy for up to 12 sessions. Spencer is an Honorary Psychosexual Therapist at Homerton University Hospital (NHS Foundation Trust) in the Clifden Centre.
Spencer’s approach is always about relationships. He works with a variety of relationship styles. Relationships and sexuality lie at the core of the human experience. Each relationship is as unique as the individuals within it. Simillarly sex takes many forms, and our enjoyment of it is often shaped by how safe and comfortable we feel being intimate with someone else.
When relationships are put to the test, intimacy is often the first casualty and the hardest to rebuild.
Talking about sexual and relationship concerns can feel overwhelming for couples. Involving a therapist can help both partners feel heard and understood, and guide them through the most sensitive parts of difficult conversations around intimacy, sexual problems, and communication breakdowns.
Spencer’s work often focuses on challenging unhelpful beliefs and habits, while helping people develop healthier communication strategies and stronger relationship dynamics. Building the relationship you want takes commitment, prioritisation, and consistent effort! Partners who benefit most from working with Spencer are those ready and willing to do the work and invest time and attention in their relationship.

Spencer is a Student Member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists)

Spencer is a well-trained, caring professional, who brings his best self to the work and is dedicated to helping you better understand yourself and others, and to function more optimally in all the environments of your life. He has over fifteen years of experience working with individuals and groups in various capacities. He’s a capable but not infallible guide, helping you to recover your own aliveness and to connect with the wisdom that has come from your life experience. Spencer is willing to go to challenging places. He has worked hard to understand himself. He’s come a long way and considers himself to still be on the path of self-discovery.

In addition to Spencer’s private counselling practice he has worked within the NHS, as well as charities supporting people with various difficulties, including schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and autism. Spencer has studied many personal development practices both east and west, ancient and modern. He has a decades long meditation practice and leads regular weekly support groups, workshops and retreats focusing on self-awareness, authentic communication and awakening.
