Stephen Gier
As a trainee doctoral student, Stephens training this year is focusing on the person-centred approach. What this means for you as a client, is that core ideas such as empathy, congruence (authenticity) and unconditional positive regard are cherished and a non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings will be provided. The client is the expert in their own life, the therapist is merely a facilitator and will walk alongside you, helping you to process the journey that is your life without judgement, with the goal assisting you in your endeavour to self-actualise and cope with the complexity of life.
Stephen is also currently a university lecturer in the Psychology department and was previously a secondary and sixth form teacher. He has had previous experience and exposure to a range of human concerns such as anxiety, depression and grief.
Stephen Gier is a trainee counselling psychologist, working towards his doctorate in counselling psychology and is a graduate member of the BPS. He is currently in his first year of training. Stephen works for the Awareness centre in the NHS Sutton service.
