Dr Tessa Saunders understands how daunting it can feel to take the initial steps towards therapy. Creating a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can talk freely and openly about your experience is therefore at the core of her approach.
Having worked for the last 10 years across London in both the NHS and third sector, providing psychological support for people from many different cultural backgrounds and life experiences, Dr Saunders is committed to providing a bespoke, flexible and collaborative space where you can work together. Dr Saunders believes it is through the development of this trusting therapeutic relationship where you can find new insight and opportunity to identify and move towards the changes that you want to make.
Dr Saunders believes in working holistically and does this by drawing on a range of different therapeutic approaches. Her main therapeutic approach is cognitive behaviour therapy, however she also draws on approaches including, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy and narrative therapy.
Dr Saunders is trained to provide psychological treatment for a range of difficulties across a spectrum of severity. This includes anxiety disorders(such as social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, health anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder), low self-esteem, depression, single event trauma and loss.
Dr Saunders is a chartered clinical psychologist registered with the HCPC. She completed her BSc degree in Psychology at the University of Liverpool and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway University.
