Tricia Cope
As a person centred counsellor Tricia holds the belief that everyone has the potential to grow, heal, and make changes within themselves. Her curiosity, warmth and steadiness helps her hold space for clients to explore in safety. Using the therapeutic relationship as a base, Tricia takes a non-directive approach to enable clients to find their own path, recognising the uniqueness and individuality of each person, She works with her clients as they improve their self awareness and ability to access their emotions, leading to greater self esteem and healthier relationships outside of the therapy room. As no two clients are the same, Tricia works in an integrative person centred style, utilizing a range of tools and techniques to tailor therapy to each individual and their specific goals, Tricia aims to create a relationship where her clients can feel empowered to make these changes. Tricia draws from her background in animal care and children’s entertainment to help navigate through life’s challenges in an empathic and non-judgmental manner. She has experienced first hand the effects working in a high stress environment can have on self esteem and anxiety.
However, this was also when she discovered an enjoyment of research and learning, an attitude that helps her to continue to develop as a counsellor. During her work at events, Tricia has helped people overcome their fears of certain animals. This has led to an interest in fears and phobias, and the ways in which people can experience and prevail over them. She has strong ties to the LGBTQIA+ community and advocates for equality for all.
Tricia Cope is a counsellor working towards a degree in person centred counselling which will qualify her to work face to face and online. As well as working within the awareness centre, she also offers online counselling with a UK wide agency. She is a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
