Domenica Stilwell – Lead Diploma Tutor

Domenica Stilwell is a lead tutor on the TAC Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a BACP registered therapist. She is a theory tutor, covering various approaches to Counselling. She also teaches the Psychopathology Module, outlining the clinical presentations of the more severe mental health issues, exploring their possible causes, and showing different ways of addressing and working with them in the clinical setting.

Domenica’s core training is psychodynamic, but she engages existential thinking in her clinical work, emphasising the importance of authenticity and life’s meaning. She works in a trauma-informed way by paying a close attention to childhood adversity and its effects on her clients’ adult life.

Domenica combines her private practice with work in the charity sector where she predominantly offers long-term psychotherapy and counselling. Her approach is relational, where the biggest importance is given to creating a warm and collaborative relationship with her clients and offering them a safe and non-judgmental space to explore their various difficulties, as well as possibilities for change.

Domenica’s main interest lies in the psychotherapeutic approaches to the treatment of C-PTSD, however she works with a variety of issues from anxiety and depression, to eating disorders, ADHD, and relationship issues. She is passionate about her clinical work and invested in helping her clients on their journey to a calmer and happier life.
