Ash Phipps

Ash Phipps – Study Skills Tutor

Ash Phipps is a study skills tutor and provider of support for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). She facilitates an academic support workshop during the first module of all our counselling and supervision courses at TAC. During this workshop, Ash guides students through the Harvard Referencing system and discusses the essays they will write throughout their course.

Ash holds master’s degrees in both SpLDs and Psychology. She is a government-registered specialist in her field and has been providing academic support and mentoring to university students since 2014. Her main objective is to help students achieve their best possible academic outcomes. To accomplish this, she utilises a combination of practical tutoring techniques to enhance students’ current academic skills and mentoring techniques to instil confidence.

Ash’s approach is metacognitive, encouraging students to reflect on their learning behaviour and discover ways to improve it. This approach is highly beneficial for future success, as it enables individuals to develop reflexive responses to their learning processes and recognise the necessary changes for improvement.
