Alison is a warm and empathetic counsellor who provides a non-judgemental environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring their feelings. In her client work, Alison draws on humanistic and psychodynamic approaches to provide a bespoke therapeutic experience. The humanistic approach allows her to see clients as whole individuals, with all their complexities, while the psychodynamic approach helps explore patterns of relating that stem from the past, fostering greater self-awareness and facilitating meaningful change. Alison works relationally and believes that each therapeutic relationship is unique and should be client-led. She recognises that coming to therapy can be a daunting experience, so she creates space for clients to ask questions and feel confident in the process.

Alison has extensive experience in education, having worked with children and young people who were neurodiverse, had behavioural challenges, or experienced mental health concerns. Through well-planned interventions, she helped young people develop improved self-regulation and coping strategies. More recently, Alison has been self-employed, working on creative projects and research. She understands the challenges of managing a busy routine and the stress and anxiety this can create. This understanding of stress, combined with her emphasis on the connection between mind and body, informs Alison’s approach to working with clients. She supports individuals in exploring how emotions manifest both physically and relationally, helping them to process their experiences in a holistic way. Alison has worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds, addressing issues such as bereavement (including miscarriage), relationship difficulties, anxiety, identity concerns, and emotional challenges. By providing a safe and compassionate space, Alison helps clients address their difficulties while building inner resources to foster resilience and personal growth.

Alison is a trainee integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP who works within the Awareness Centre’s NHS Lambeth Counselling Service.
