Antonino Capparella
Antonino Capparella (Nino) is a trainee counsellor and a registered student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He is currently working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre and works within The Awareness Centre’s Lambeth Talking Therapies Service. Nino is developing his clinical experience by supporting clients with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. His integrative training enables him to tailor therapy to each individual’s needs, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to provide compassionate and effective support.
Nino works in a way that gives clients space to pause and reconnect with themselves. He offers a calm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental environment where clients can bring whatever feels difficult, confusing, or unresolved. While always working at the client’s pace and responding to their individual needs, he also brings structure when helpful, gently exploring recurring thoughts, feelings, or situations that may be causing distress. Nino sees therapy not only as a way to work through problems but also as an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of oneself and build greater resilience. His practice is grounded in Person-Centred therapy, with the flexibility to integrate elements of Solution-Focused therapy and Transactional Analysis where appropriate. He values the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for meaningful change and works collaboratively with each client, adapting his approach to what feels most helpful for them.
Before training as a counsellor, Nino worked in business and marketing, giving him valuable insight into the pressures and demands many people experience in both their professional and personal lives. This background has shaped his understanding of the impact that stress, change, and uncertainty can have on emotional wellbeing. He has a particular interest in the ways cultural change, anxiety, and long-term stress influence mental health and relationships. His own experience of bereavement has also deepened the empathy, compassion, and understanding he brings to his therapeutic work. Nino is committed to providing a supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences, strengthen their resilience, and move towards meaningful and lasting change.
